Elevate, Delegate

One of my clients is an EOS Expert Implementor. EOS is a “set of simple concepts and practical tools” for businesses to achieve real results. One of the tools that my client leads business leaders through is “Elevate, Delegate”. We can’t do every thing in our lives and our business, so this tool is designed to identify tasks that we can elevate (spending more time on the things that we love), or delegate (assigning tasks to others). While this exercise is meant for businesses, I think it can be applied to our lives and finding ways to spend more time doing want we love.

So, grab a piece of paper and write all the tasks that you do in a week and how many minutes/hours you spend doing those tasks. Then on another piece of paper draw four quadrants, or print out this worksheet. Now take all the tasks that you wrote down and put them in their respective quadrants. Ideally, you want most of your tasks to be in the “Love/Great At” or “Like/Good At” categories. But we don’t live in an ideal world, there are just things that we have to do that we don’t like to do. I want to focus on the items under “Don’t Like/Not Good”, these are the tasks that we avoid like the plague and need to get off of our plates. These are the tasks that we want to Delegate.
